Full heating system redesign and heat pump upgrade including radiator sizing, pipework correction and whole home comfort mapping.
Robert’s home sits 400 feet up on an exposed hillside northeast of Glasgow. “We are pretty exposed because we are at 400ft here… we get a lot of wild weather.”
When he and his family first moved in, they loved the potential of the site, but the house was facing the wrong way. “The house was the wrong way round… the living room was facing into the street and we had this beautiful view behind us.”
They reoriented the home, turning the back garden into a bright open living space with a large dining area. It should have become the centre of the home.
Instead, it was freezing.
“This particular room was always cool. The space was uncomfortable in the wintertime.”
Noisy fan radiators did little, and a log burner “made it livable” but sent most heat straight upstairs. Then came the breaking point.
“There was no heating upstairs because of a blockage… there was no science to the solution.”
“People generally said: let’s add more of these.”
Get a proper diagnosis of what’s actually limiting your heating performance, the way Robert finally did.
“Sean’s professionalism, technical expertise, and willingness to go the extra mile truly set him apart. He is an absolute superstar, and I can’t recommend Aventus Eco Ltd highly enough for anyone facing similar challenges.”

Robert works from home as a leadership coach and photographer. Comfort is essential to his daily routine.
“I was wearing one if not two fleeces quite often… people noticed online that I had three fleeces on when coaching them.”
He turned to the internet and quickly discovered a common problem.
“Searching the web is particularly difficult. There are too many vested interests and too many people with a point of view not based on science or professionalism.”
What he needed was independent, unbiased advice.
“I wanted to find an independent advisor who was not selling something and did not have a vested interest.”
That independent guidance helped him understand something no one had previously explained:
“The key piece of information was the size of radiators or emitters. It was so obvious, but no one had ever mentioned it.”
Once he understood heat loss, emitter sizing and comfort requirements, the next steps became clearer. The available grant support made a heat pump the logical long-term solution.
The independent consultants recommended Aventus Eco. The moment Robert met Sean Hogan, something stood out.
“I felt I could trust them. They were trying to solve my problem.”
“He really came from a non biased point of view. He was trying to solve the problem. He understood that comfort was the first priority.”
“Find somebody you can trust. If you do not trust somebody, do not go with them.”
“You need both technical skill and organisation. If you have managed refits and refurb projects, you know what you are doing.”
This proved important once work began.
If you want straight answers and a design-led plan, you’ll value how Aventus Eco works.
“Sean also took time to talk us through how it all works and has been on hand to answer any question post-installation. Will be recommending them to friends and family.”

Inviting installers into your home is emotional and often stressful.
“Your home is your safe space. I will not invite just anybody in.”
Robert was anxious about one part of the work: lifting the original wooden flooring upstairs to replace legacy microbore pipework.
What happened next surprised him.
“Sean did that part himself because he wanted to make sure it was done properly. It was done with the minimum of fuss and the minimum of disturbance.”
“He put everything back the way he found it.”
“If he did not like the way something was done, he would ask people to do it again, very respectfully, but it was non negotiable.”
“That is what I look for in people who do work. They are in control, they are managing, they have taken responsibility.”
“He still texts me to ask how things are going. If I forget how to operate something, he explains it to me.”
“One thing I can definitely say is Sean is not a boiler basher. He manages the whole project, the materials and the people.”
The impact of the retrofit is profound.
“The real difference now is this even temperature. I still have not got used to it even months down the line.”
Everyday experiences are transformed.
His only humorous complaint:
“You have to water your plants a lot more.”
But the deeper change is about how he lives in the home.
“The danger when your house does not function is that you retreat into one space that you heat.”
“You want to be able to live in the space you have worked on.”
Now the entire home is usable, comfortable and stable.
“Having an evenly heated house in which every room is heated is a basic right for people. And it can be done if people do the job properly.”
We’ll assess your radiators, flow temps and system design, exactly what transformed Robert’s home.
“Outstanding service, difficult decision to make to change to air source heat pump especially give the level of misinformation. Sean/Aventus Eco were outstanding in helping me explore and decide that this was right solution.”

Robert’s story illustrates exactly what the government announced. Retrofit succeeds when the public sees real homeowners achieving real comfort through high quality design.
Aventus Eco demonstrates:
Correct emitter sizing, heat loss calculations and whole home planning.
Delivering stable, even temperatures all day.
Work carried out with care, respect and organisation.
Installers who manage the full project, not just the equipment.
People living fully in their homes again.
“Living in this house is now dramatically different.”
Aventus Eco is now publishing a series of real case studies showing how design led retrofit transforms homes across Scotland.
