Scotland funds the heat pump side of the package properly: up to £7,500 from Home Energy Scotland (£9,000 in remote rural, island and off-gas accessible rural areas), plus an optional £7,500 interest-free loan. There is no HES grant or loan for solar PV or batteries.

One survey, one design, one company. Watch how the heat pump, the solar array and the battery get sized against each other instead of bolted on separately.
Announced 26 August 2026: the cap rises 4% for October to December, from £1,663 to £1,723 for a typical dual fuel home, and nearly all of that rise is gas. Behind the headline sit the capped rates: electricity at 26.32p per kWh, gas at 7.97p per kWh.
Gas only looks cheap until it goes through a boiler. Burned at 90% efficiency, it really costs 8.86p per kWh of heat.

Honest numbers: a well designed Scottish install runs in the 350 to 450 band across the year, and our own Bathgate system logged 440% in November. The 500% tile shows the ceiling, not a promise.
VAT on domestic electricity drops to 0% from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, straight off the bill. Gas keeps its 5% rate for the same period.
A home with no gas supply stops paying the 29.68p daily gas standing charge: about £108 a year gone before a single unit is burned.
The unit price on the cap sheet is only half the sum. What decides your bill is how much heat each unit buys, and on that measure a heat pump beats gas at every realistic efficiency band.
