A heat pump runs cheapest at a low flow temperature, so each room’s heat loss and radiator sizes come first. On a heat pump installation in Leith, the unit size comes last, and every figure is on paper for you to check.

A Draughty 1920s Mount Florida End-Terrace, Now Warm All Year

The heat loss survey pointed to a single 7kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus at a 45°C flow. We swapped four radiators, some over two decades old, for high-output models, added three more and fixed poor plumbing left by an earlier installer.
A 250L cylinder fits in their 1.2m-high basement, and each room stays at 21°C in every season. In a Leith flat, the same survey looks for a hall press or loft space for it.
